I Am Link

.
--- Ruff At Heart - Mark Ruffalo's going to play Larry Kramer (sort of) in his semi-autobiographical book The Normal Heart. I haven't read the book but I was just thinking the other day after watching The Kids Are All Right that Mr. Ruffalo needed to get his gay on sometime soon - has he before? - so that's what's catching my eye here. Should I read the book, people?

--- Goodbye Gilmore - Lauren Graham has left the cast of Scream 4, citing date conflicts and script changes. I've always liked Graham on screen but has anyone else heard tales of her being a total see you next Tuesday in real life? Not that that's why she left the film. Maybe she just didn't like Sidney's new haircut.

--- Word to the Pennywise - Slash has got an update from the crazy people trying to turn Stephen King's massive It into a regular sized movie on where stuff stands right now. The craziest part of this to me is the thought that anyone thinks Tim Curry's performance can be topped. There's a lot to the 1990 miniseries that's lacking, but Curry's clown is one for the ages.

--- Nom Nom Dom - We already knew it was happening but Marvel's gone and officially confirmed that Dominic Cooper's playing Tony Stark's papa in their Captain America movie. Dom Cooper and Chris Evans... standing in the same vicinity as each other... gah.

--- Who's Up For Hugo - I wrote up a brief bit yesterday at The Film Experience on that massive spurt of casting news for Martin Scorsese's next movie, the adaptation of The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Including Jude Law and Christopher Lee, just to name two yes-please's.

--- Devil May Blog - Stacie has picked July's Final Girl Film Club entry and it's Ti West's terrific The House of the Devil with MNPP It Girl Greta Gerwig (and yes, I'm a dick for always going on about Greta and ignoring the film's actual lead, Jocelin Donahue, who's very good too, but what can I say, I got a fevah for Gerwig and the only prescription is more Gerwig!). I can't fathom that Stacie's held off this long - she is obviously deranged. Deranged! Let's help her through this time of need by posting to the Film Club on July 26th.

--- Drew with a Z - Holy awesomenss Joe has posted the first of four parts in an interview with one-time Buffy writer (once a Buffy writer, always a Buffy writer!) Drew Z. Greenberg. So far so fucking terrific.

--- Snow White To Woody - Here's a nice list at The Guardian of five milestones in film animation over the past century. I'd never watched the following, J Stuart Blackton's "Humorous Phases of Funny Faces" from 1906, credited as the first animation ever filmed:

You might be interested to know that Ruffalo's slated in the same role originated by BRAD DAVIS in
The Normal Heart original production at ThePublic.

Might be? ;-) Have you read the book or seen it on stage, Stinky?

God I want a time machine so I can see Brad Davis on stage. If by "see him on stage" I mean "sneak through the stage door and wait for him in his dressing room with a bottle of champagne" which obviously I do.

Aw man, I was looking forward to seeing Loralie Gilmore in a horror flick! Someone on the website you linked to make a joke about Neve's hair, too!

I actually really like It. I get the feeling I should be ashamed of that.
