Shutter Island has left sort of a bad taste in my mouth. I didn't hate it like a lot of people did, but I didn't love it like I wanted to either, and with time the problems seem more glaring than they did at first. One of those problems being Leo, whom I recall being covered in flop-sweat every single second he was on-screen. I know he wasn't, but that's the way time has twisted my memory of his performance - into this hammy, overdone thing. Anyway that's what I think when I see pictures from Inception now - I worry that it'll be Lousy Leo we get and not the good Leo I watched in Revolutionary Road or The Departed. It's always your last picture they judge you by, man!
My point - there's a quartet of newish pictures from Inception over here, and the one I gravitated to that made me the most enthusiastic was the one sans any Leo, the one with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ellen Page in it. Cuz yay them!
I don't think I linked to our discussion of this film for the "We Can't Wait!" countdown at The Film Experience - here's where we talked about it. And here's a link to where you can see the entire countdown.

See, Shutter Island Leo, Departed Leo, and Revolutionary Leo all feel like the same Leo to me.
yeah, I'm not a Leo fan either.
