I Am Link

.

--- Something I Never Thought I'd Type - Tracy Morgan and Juliette Binoche have just joined the cast of a movie. Yes, the same movie. Whackadoo. It's the next movie by Dito Montiel, director of A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints and Fighting, and yes, it's already got Channing Tatum in the lead, since apparently Dito and Channing are totally gay for each other. I mean, Channing has spent 95% of his screen-time in both of those flicks half-naked, so I really mean "gay" as in "gay, with the gay sex." But can I step back and say... Juliette Binoche, really? I mean I know she'll be awesome, she's always awesome. And Dianne Wiest had a great part that she rocked in Saints. So... I don't know. Weird! Wacky!

--- Danny Duo - I'm not especially interested in the film, but I don't see Danny Dyer's name often enough so when I do I gotta spring, because LOVE him - he's signed up alongside Sean Bean for some WWII drama - the first in a planned trilogy - called Age of Heroes, based on Ian "Bond' Fleming's days in an elite forces unit. Take off your clothes, Danny. ALl of them. That's right. Every stitch. Thank you.

--- Viva Stuff - This list of Stacie Ponder's favorite things that she's collected over the years made my heart happy, because her geeky love spilleth over. I wish I were a better collector. I don't really have much of anything besides stacks of movies and books. I have a few horror action figures and some piles of comics, but nothing extensive. Bad geek!

--- Re Dead - Hey oh, my cyber-pal Pax got to see an early screening of George Romero's next zombie-flick Survival of the Dead! And he liked it! My expectations for this movie are pretty much dwelling in the basement under the tattered shag carpet the prior tenants left behind, so some good word o' mouth is welcomed. Do it right, Uncle Georgie!

--- Boy Wondered - The poster for Todd Solondz's latest, Life During Wartime, has arrived, via Stale Popcorn. It's terrific, as Solondz's posters always are. Here's my review of the film, which is out this Summer. A wonderful film that I'm dying to see again.

--- And finally, there's some Cronenbergian goodness to be had over at The Film Experience today - a post on Cronenberg's stance as a Modern Maestro, and Nat's list of his favorite characters of the just-ended decade, where in a Viggo-by-David characterization makes high marks.

If it makes you feel better, I'm the same way, and it actually kinda makes sense. I'll be staring at an action figure or a model of Serenity or something, wanting to get it, and eventually I just think "Yeah, that'd be great, but if I've got spare cash, I could also spend it on something more reusable and less of a rip-off, like that DVD I've been wanting."
