--- Let Us Prey - You can watch the first footage from Predators over at this link. Adrien Brody looks good. There's some shirtless running around to be seen (although too blurry for me to cap, sorry). But that means there's at least that to look forward to! Seriously though I'm pretty psyched for this movie. They just gotta promise us a hard R rating with lots and lots of good old-fashioned gore. The trailer will be at that link later this week.

--- Big Downgrade - My first reaction to the news that Angelina Jolie was teaming up with Alfonso Cuarón when I blogged about it back a few weeks ago was utter delight. But now comes word that Robert Downey Jr. is jumping on-board to replace the departed Angelina and my belly sours. I love Cuarón of course so I'll have to see the film, but I don't look forward to yet another Robert Downey playing Robert Downey like he always is just playing himself performance.

"In the case of the story if we are going to take it and put it in an American context then the Tract housing makes total sense. But America in the 80s and America now is very different. It isn't sort of a godless suburbia. If I were a 12-year-old kid and I was harboring the thoughts that Oscar had because of the brutality of his life, and if I imagined killing my enemies, vicious thoughts. I think in an American context, Reagan was talking about the evil empire and that the evil is outside of us, and I became very drawn to the idea that the evil is within us. It's details like that. I think people think the whole Americanization thing is people coming in and adding lots of gratuitous stuff. In may case it's much more about context and honor the original story and find the way that it applies to the way we live, or I lived."
He does seem genuine in his love for the material. God I should just shut up and wait to see the film, right? All this back and forth, wailing and wringing my hands. Pitiful.

I don't know what's so bad about Downey Jr...sure, he's kind of a dick, but this movie here looks like he'll have to be quiet. And, besides, he's sometimes funny.
