Dammit I'm Gonna Have To See This Damn Movie

Ugh. There aren't a lot of times that my gross-out-meter shows its face anymore. I'm desensitized like a bitch, y'all. I can stomach all sorts of faux-atrocity. (Faux is the operative word there - show me real world horrors and my head shrivels up into my neck like a scared turtle.) But all you gotta do is mention The Human Centipede, the new movie about... oh just go read what it's about if you don't know already, I don't feel like explaining it. Gross, dude. Gross. Every time the movie comes up - and it comes up way more than I wish it would, frankly - I cringe, and I realize with every passing revelation that yeah, this movie's actually getting distribution. I am going to have to see this movie. It's kind of a dare with myself, I guess. I can't be the kid to chicken out! But UGH. UGH. UGH!

Anyway STYD drops new word on the movie's release:

"The Tom Six-directed shocker, The Human Centipede, begins its assault on U.S. theaters Friday, April 30 (A Nightmare on Elm Street opens the same day). Fangoria says IFC plans to open the film then in New York with other cities to follow."

See, the fact that IFC bought this film and is premiering it and everything, well in theory that's why I just love IFC, and the IFC Center here in New York, to bits. They're always scooping up things like this that would probably fall through the cracks otherwise. But again, this means I have to see the damn movie, and UGH.

The poo factor makes this a "will not see" for me.

I voted no not because it sounds gross but because it sounds really stupid. I my NetFlix it but will probably just wait for it on cable. I reserve the right to change my mind after reading 150 Words.

I'm actually shocked that the vote is so close at this point. I figured it'd be a total one-sided blow-out for "Hell no." Y'all are a bunch of sickos.

To be honest, the concept amuses me rather than grossing me out. I need psychological help, I know. But its just kinda funny that someone has decided "Right, I'm gonna take this torture porn shit TO THE EXTREME!." And its funny that, as Sean said, the result sounds really stupid.

I don't know if I'll go to the movie, if it shows up here. I couldn't really be bothered watching it on DVD, though, because the best thing about this would be seeing it with an audience. It probably won't make it to any theatres here, though, so oh well.

After sitting through "Salo: The 120 Days of Sodom," I can stomach just about anything, so, yes, I'll be checking this one out, but more for the creep-out factor than the gross-out factor.
