Two Bits

.
These stories aren't necessarily connected but I am going to connect them through the intense power of my mind. First up, there's this via DH:

"Jonah Hill will star and David Gordon Green ("Pineapple Express") is in negotiations to direct the comedy "The Sitter" for 20th Century Fox says The Hollywood Reporter.

Hill plays a suspended college student living at home who gets talked into baby-sitting the three eccentric kids next door: two boys and an 8-year-old girl.

Michael De Luca is producing the project which is said to resemble 80's classic "Adventures in Babysitting" (aka. "A Night on the Town") in tone. Previously the likes of Zac Efron and Zack Galifianakis were involved at one point.

Shooting kicks off this Fall."

Whatever happened to the Babysitting remake starring Raven Symone anyway? Did that happen? Was it just a bad dream? Back to this though - what a place David Gordon Green has come to, eh? From his auspicious serious start with George Washington he got progressively funkier, and now he's making big studio comedies that once involved Zac Efron. Eesh. Still I have no doubt that with DGG attached the project will become infinitely more interesting than it would've otherwise. I find myself drawn in Pineapple Express every time I stumble upon it on TV - that is a comedy that will last.

And now for the second bit, also via DH:

"Natalie Portman will star in and produce the indie stoner road comedy "Best Buds" for Vendome Pictures and her own Handsome Charlie Films reports Pajiba.

Jamie Denbo's script centers on two best female friends who set out on a road trip, with a bunch of weed in tow, to a friend's wedding.

A director is currently being sought for the project which Portman will likely tackle after completing work on "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies"."

Weed is not the only thread connecting these projects in my brain - Natalie Portman is of course the lady-lead in David Gordon Green's Your Highness, his knights-of-the-stoned-table tale with James Franco, which IMDb has listed as in post-production. And she's been rumored as the lead in his remake of Suspiria for ages now. I was thinking the other day that she's probably not gonna do two ballet movies in a row, what with her just having filmed Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan. So will Suspiria happen? I'm not holding my breath. And apparently if I were holding my breath it would be because I just took a gigantic, like huge, bong hit.

Anyway! I like her starring in a pot comedy for the ladies - it brings me memories of Smiley Face and anything that brings me memories of Smiley Face is a very very very good thing.

So inevitably this is where I suggest Anna Faris play the other lady in the movie with her. So this is me, doing that. Right here. There. Done.

God, the audition scene. From the moment she slo-mo turns at the elevator to the end of it, it's fucking hilarious. My favorite part of the movie.
