Neither Snow Nor Sleet Interrupts The Tilda

Anyone seen Bela Tarr's 2007 film The Man From London? I am seeing it tonight up at Lincoln Center where they're screening it for a series on new Hungarian film; I liked the only other Tarr film I've seen, his 2000 film The Werckmeister Harmonies, quite a bit, and when I saw he'd directed a film with Tilda Swinton in it, well, I didn't really have a choice. It was made for me with that.

Course now I'm looking at the dreary snow coming down outside and my Wii's siren-song is so much louder and sweeter than two plus hours of presumably dour Eastern European cinema... oh, the shame. But there it is! The awful truth. Rescind my cineaste badge immediately!

But I'm going. I'm doing it for you, Tilda.
All in the name of Tilda! Amen!

That movie is horrible. I nearly walked out. Tilda does nothing.

Haha was just about to say the same thing. I was so bored I counted the people who did walk out - 96 if memory serves me.
If you look In the dictionary under 'Tedious', it will read The Man From London.

I'm guessing you guys haven't seen a Bela Tarr movie before then? ;-) Thankfully I knew what I was in for going in. I like his tedium though, I find it... I guess the word is hypnotic. I liked Werckmeister more than this one but I certainly didn't hate this one. I'd say he's an acquired taste, that's for sure. My friend that I was with wanted to stab me in the face.
