I Am Link

.
--- Grab Your Crucifix - I guess they're starting their media saturation a bit early - the Elm Street remake isn't out until the end of April but they've released a bunch of new pictures as well as a new poster online, and I guess a new trailer will be out at the end of this week. As for the poster, I don't like that tag-line. "Welcome to your New Nightmare"? We already had a New Nightmare, thank you very much, and save a spectacularly awful final couple of minutes it was very good. Anyway there are some fairly gory new pictures over at BD too, if you dare.

--- Land Lover - At the opposite end of the spectrum film-wise, a poster and some stills have been released for Ondine, Niel Jordan's film about Colin Farrell discovering a mermaid. Not so crazy about Colin's long hair, but then I get lost in his giant brown eyes and everything else melt's away so whatever, so pretty...

--- Oh Tim - There's a nice little chat with Crazies star Timothy Olyphant up at AICN wherein he argues that remakes are nothing to fear, conjuring up the many times that Hamlet has been redone as his argument. I do wish he'd injected a "But nobody thinks The Crazies is Hamlet here," but I do get his point.

--- Good Body - Over at Film Experience Nat's awarded two more prizes in his Film Bitch awards, these for "Body of Work" and "Breakthrough," and Michael Fassbender gets loved on for the latter. But we all must agree his "body of work" is something to behold as well, right? Right. Riiiiiight. Sigh.

--- Third's A Charm - This is the third time I've posted on the new movie Heartless (Neil Gaimany with a dash of Jim Sturgess - post one and post two) and I seem caught in a loop and I'm unsure why I keep posting on it but I do so oh well. I guess since nobody's smart enough to make films out of Neil Gaiman books, I'll take this Neverwhere-sounding thing in their place. DH has a new gallery of pictures. If nothing else the film's got a terrific supporting cast, including Timothy Spall, Eddie Marsan, and Clémence Poésy (Fleur in the Potter films, Colin Farrell's druggy-lady-love in In Bruges).

--- Dead Drawn - There's a quite nifty gallery of horror movie posters at io9 from 1980s Thailand. The rain of zombie hands in the Day of the Dead poster is really terrifying - it's something a lot of the poster's manage, actually. To be terrifying. I wish our posters scared up (har) their own sort of chilling imagery more often instead of the usual lameness.

--- Coming Up - Fact: if you wanna know what there is worth knowing about the movies coming out over the next couple of weeks then you will find what you need to know over at Low Resolution's helpful glance at the films.

--- Hockey Jock - I have a sordid history with Kevin Smith. I have hated every single one of his movies. And yet, I sorta like him. And so I keep convincing myself that I will like his new film. And I never do. Yet I keep liking him. But I decided after Zack & Miri that I wasn't gonna see his films any more. But now I learn his probable next film is gonna star Seann William Scott as a hockey player, and that makes me think of the wonderment that was SWS as a tennis player... but no, Kevin Smith's movies are never as gay as you want them to be. I learned that lesson waiting for Brandon Routh and Justin Long to make out. Missed opportunity! Big time.
