I Am Link

.

--- Hot Wings - Just a couple days ago I'd contemplated doing a list of sexy angels myself in honor of Paul Bettany's sculpted abs in Legion this weekend, but then I got lost in thought over Pygar in Barbarella and next thing I knew a couple hours had passed and I was passed out on the floor covered in sweat and drool and some mystery fluid. Thankfully the fine folks at io9 had no such episode and made just such a list themselves... but they forgot Pygar! For the record Tilda woulda made mine too.

--- Burn, Vegas, Burn - Apparently a rough cut of my-much-anticipated Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World screened in Las Vegas last night. I knew there was a reason I hated that town sight unseen. A-holes! Anyway there are a pair of raving rave reviews at AICN, click here and here, but beware they're spoilery, and even though I'd read the Scott Pilgrim books I made myself stop reading because the reviews were giving away too many visual gags I want to experience myself.

--- Swoon Heathcliff - Fish Tank director Andrea Arnold is going to direct a new version of Wuthering Heights next and it took this article all the way til the end to mention that her Tank star Michael Fassbender had already been rumored for the part of Heathcliff and what a nice fit he might make in the part but I didn't even get halfway through the word "Wuthering" before the casting occurred to me. But then, I'm deranged with Fassbender Fever and the only cure is MORE FASSBENDER.

--- And finally, director Matt Reeves opened up some to MTV on his remake of Let the Right One In, and here's the choice quote (via):

"It’s very much an Americanization of the tale that John Ajvide Lindqvist tells. The film touched me. And I read the book, which he also wrote, and it moved me too. It reminded me so much of my own childhood in certain ways. It’s so much about that period of preadolescence, that feeling of being a child and of being bullied, the difficulties of growing up. It’s such a beautiful coming-of-age story, in addition to being such a terrific genre story. One of the things I really wanted to do was find my own way into the story while still being very, very reverent to the beautiful film and to the wonderful story that they created."

He also talks about how he thinks this story calls to be much darker and scarier than the world of Twilight, which the original film was often compared to since they both came out around the same time and dealt with a young human becoming infatuated/obsessed with a vampire. Anyway I've never really doubted that Reeves had good intentions and I really hope he makes something special. Different, but special. I hope he makes his own film and apes Alfredson's film as little as possible. I want to be pleased; I'll always have the first film to cherish - this remake doesn't sully that at all. So I'm gonna go into Reeves' film with an open mind. The book's worthy.

Quick question (and while I don't really expect you to know the answer it'd rock socks if you did):

Any idea on how I can get a copy of 'Let the Right One In' with the theatrical subtitles in my hot little hands? The BF got me a copy special ordered for Xmas and again it just has the effed up nonsense version. I fear I'll be trolling dvd racks for eternity, checking the back of the dvd and having my hopes crushed ad infinitum.

Suggestions?
