UGH. Cinematical has an update on that remake of Romancing the Stone that was proposed exactly a full year ago today (weird), and... UGH.
I've posted often enough on Gerry Butler here at MNPP to probably have obscured this recent development: I've begun to grow completely sick of him. Sick to death! Maybe if he found something to be in that I wanted to watch, like ever again, that would change. Remaking one of my childhood touchstones with an unlikeable shrew does not fulfill that charge however. It's directly in the opposite direction. Opposite direction, Gerry! You are growing very very cold!
But, deep breaths, at this point this is just Cinematical spitting out ideas based on the director's (shit-flecked) resume so far, so nobody knows nothing at this point. But just UGH to this whole thing. UGH, I says!
.
"[It] appears to be moving forward with Robert Luketic (The Ugly Truth) directing from a script by Dan McDermott (Eagle Eye). Dustin Rowles at Pajiba believes this will be Luketic's next film after finishing the upcoming Killers, rather than the remake of Barbarella. And it's easy to assume the director will cast Katherine Heigl in Turner's role. As for Douglas' adventurer character, perhaps Luketic can go for an Ugly Truth reunion and go with Gerard Butler."

But are you sick of him enough that you'll stop calling him "Gerry"? Not yet!
I found the Katherine Heigl portion of that article to be even more disturbing. DON'T EVEN PUT THAT IDEA INTO THE UNIVERSE, WRITER.
Come on, Joe, you know how I roll. Nicknames for all that are worthy! Like Jimmy for James Marsden, or Siggy for Sigourney Weaver, or That Cunt for Thandie Newton.
I hope all three of them got lost in the jungle somewhere. Hardly think I would notice.
Eagle Eye and The Ugly Truth are two of the worst movies I've seen in years. Let's not even get into why I rented such stinkbombs in the first place, 'kay? The people coming up with these unholy remake proposals need to slapped with brick-lined mittens.
Er, that was supposed to be "slapped with brick-lined mittens," in case it wasn't clear. Sorry.
