Today I'd rather be...
Okay, random alert! Here's how it went: I was at this event at MoMA ealier tonight and they played Pat Benatar's "Love is a Battlefield" and whenever I hear that song I think of the awesome video for it which I adore. As any sane person should. So when I got home I watched the video. And while I was watching Pat do her dance-off with her creepy pimp I suddenly was reminded of Madonna's "Open Your Heart" video, which I haven't thought of in ages but was one of my faves when I was young. Watching it now I was surprised at how gay the thing is (although why anything gay in relation to Madonna should surprise me is anybody's guess). I just didn't remember is being so... I dunno, there are obviously loads of influences, this is Madonna the One-Woman Co-Opt Factory we're talking about here, but now that I'm older and have seen some Tom of Finland and Pierre et Gilles and Rainer Werner Fassbinder movies like Querelle (mmm Brad Davis in Querelle), I guess I get it a little more.

My favorite Madonna song ever!!! And a wonderful video, to boot. Definitely memorable.
Hated the song, the video and that annoying little twerp who couldn't get in to see Madonna doing what comes naturally.
Wonder whatever happened to the twins?
CLASSIC 80's Madonna, great song and video. When I first saw her in the black hair I thought it was her hair (not even close), she changes with every video, CD, song. I still have no idea what those words in Italian at the end say!!
