One Of Us, One Of Us

.
I found this bit from New York Times' reviewer (and new At The Movies host!) A.O. Scott's review of Paranormal Activity amusing:

"During the day, [Micah] and Katie argue about what to do, and their quarrels occasioned some interesting relationship advice from members of the audience. Half expressed the strong conviction that Micah should get as far away from that crazy shrew as possible, while the other half thought she should throw that idiot and his camera out of the house."

First off, both points-of-view there are correct. But what I find especially amusing is how Scott talks a bit in the review about the screening where he saw the movie being one of the midnight ones last week, and in all honesty his review reads to me like this man hasn't experienced a movie with an actual audience in ages. No, his buddies furiously scribbling notes at the critic's screenings where he presumably sees most everything weeks ahead of the rest of us commoners don't count as an audience. I mean with an actual bunch of obnoxious New York City horror-enthusiast assholes who practically crawl into the screen and engage the characters directly mid-film. Well welcome to my world, Mr. Scott. Welcome to my long-suffering world.
