So I will just post it. Via DH:"Kristen Bell ("Veronica Mars," "Heroes") will play Christina Aguilera's rival in the musical drama "Burlesque" for Screen Gems says The Hollywood Reporter.
The story centers on the journey of an ambitious small-town girl (Aguilera) with a big-town voice who finds love and success in a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club, reminiscent of Bob Fosse's "Cabaret".
Bell will play Nikki, the loose-cannon lead dancer and main attraction at the club who spirals out of control when Aguilera's character suddenly gets the spotlight. Cher also stars."
Is this Kristen Bell's Cristal Connors? It sounds like it's that role. But if it isn't, can they make it that?
In all seriousness, Bell's got a musical theater background and delighted even me, the musical naysayer, in that marijuana musical Reefer Madness. Plus Cher. Even I can't knock Cher. She's Cher. She is what she is and what she is is Cher. Aguilera... well she always had the fact that she wasn't Britney Spears going for her, I'll give her that. I don't know. This could be the worst or the greatest thing ever.

Awesome, but. Are they seriously trying to cast Christina as the fresh-faced, innocent newcomer and Kristen Bell as the seasoned pro? IMDB says they're the same age, but even so.
The way to react to the news is HELLS YEAH!@!!!! Aguilera is kinda the weak link here, but so what? If it gets Veronica Mars singing and dancing again, I am all for it!
I'm inclined to think it'll be both the worst and greatest thing ever, Showgirls style.
