This Ain't No Fooling Around

Yesterday I managed to score tickets for Todd Solondz's Life During Wartime when it plays at the New York Film Festival in a few weeks (The White Ribbon too! Whee!), which I am so stupid excited about it's ridiculous. Perhaps, I might wager, it's even ridonkulous. Buzz on LDW is super-high - I guess it just won Best Screenplay at Venice, and the people who've seen it are calling it a "return to form" for Solondz. I liked Palindromes so those people saying that aren't so much on my exact wavelength but it's got me excited all the same.

Anyway here, via Slash/Film, is this little featurette on the movie with Mr. Solondz himself chatting it up.

Also, I mentioned this before, how the movie's a pseudo-sequel to Happiness, only with different actors playing characters from that film... well it turns out there are characters from Welcome to the Dollhouse represented as well! The Playlist went through the LDW script and tells us who's playing who.

The film doesn't have a release date yet but I expect that news will come soon. You can expect me to yap about it when it does.

That's the one I'll be at too, Michael! I'll be the one dressed in Dawn Weiner drag. ;-)

Well, it's got a distributor so I'd wager they'd give it a December release.
