Quote of the Day

AICN's on a bit of a roll this week - after getting the first review I'd seen of Prince of Persia anywhere yesterday, now they've got the first review (brimming with spoilers, so beware) I've seen anywhere of director Mark Romanek's adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's phenomenal novel Never Let Me Go.

The film stars Carey Mulligan (she of the current big buzz surrounding An Education), Keira Knightley, and the wonderful Andrew Garfield. The review itself lays out the entire story from start to finish so I'd recommend only reading it if you've read the book, but I will share this final impression about the film because damn I hope it's the case:

"To be honest, I haven't felt like I did walking out of the theater since seeing P.T. Anderson's "There Will Be Blood.""

I hope this is true - I have massive hopes for this film; I adore Ishiguro's book and am a big fan of Romanek's music videos and thought his only full-length film so far, One Hour Photo, showed a lot of promise. There's still no word on when this film will come out, we're talking about a very early screening here, but I will inevitably be posting more as it rolls forth so stay tuned.

I haven't heard of it but I heart Carey Mulligan so I'm all for it. You seen Bleak House? MUSTCTV.

Hooray - I hope it's true - this book is fascinating and an adaptation could be great or totally flat.
