Pretty Jim Pretty Jim

Even though I am not a fan of Joe Wright's Atonement (and I am not a fan of Joe Wright's Atonement), I know a good thing when I see it and I stand by my right to exploit good things when I feel like it. That's what America stands for, and shit! So here are nine frames of James McAvoy being pretty in Atonement, which in this film he did and was done to him very very well.

How could you not love Atonement?!?!?!?!

I was watching Pride and Prejudice today, actually, and I was wondering what you thought of it. At the very least, it looked amazing. Same with Atonement.

Are you sure, JA, that your problem with Atonement is not an issue of focus? Your earlier review rightfully pointed to your inability to become invested in the love affair of blue eyes and Skeletor...I found myself more swept up in Briony's character and journey...imagining what it must have been like to bear the weight of such a horrible misdeed all those years...what I took from the film, aside from the beautiful images it burned into my brain, was Briony's story...I think I would have been disppointed, too, if I'd focused more on the romance factor...

Nah, I remember finding Briony mostly insufferable, shaun. Honestly my memory is foggy of the film though and I do not care enough to slog through it again. Ever. ;-)

Mat, I liked P&P, and I thought Keira was a delight in it. And I usually can't stand her so that's saying a lot.

Atonement is one of the best films of the decade, imo. I think it's flawless. But, as the person above said, it shouldn't be seen as a love story. It's the story of a very cerebral writer trying to write and reconstruct a love story. The result is an exquisite mix of emotion and intelect; there are so many themes that can be explored in the film. I'd like to suggest you to give it another chance.
Ah...and James, in person, is gorgeous. Yes, I've met him when he was performing in "Three Days of Rain". Utterly charming too, and nice to everyone. Plus we know what a great actor he is.
The man is perfect, period. ;)
