I Am Link

.
--- 3 4 Better Lock Your Door - I haven't even had the chance to watch the teaser trailer for the Nightmare on Elm Street remake myself (it's been a bad couple of days), much less post on it, but Stacie's got it up over at Final Girl if you wanna watch it yourself and haven't yet. I hear Haley's unsurprisingly the bomb in it.

--- Big Fang Boom - Via Cinematical comes word that this current widely-proclaimed "Vampire Craze!" that we're smack-dab in the center of these days has actually been more of a fifty-year non-stop vampapalooza with a couple of brief lulls over that period and nothing new.

--- Get Infected - Meanwhile over at BD they've got the teaser poster for the remake of Romero's The Crazies (seen there to the left), starring Timothy Olyphant. The poster unwisely does not feature a naked picture of Olyphant. That'd be the way I'd go when selling my movie. Even if Timothy Olyphant wasn't in my movie, that's how I'd sell it. But what do I know? I know nothing.

--- Fall of the Roman Empire - Not so much a shock, but the post-production on Roman Polanski's next movie The Ghost, with Pierce Brosnan and Ewan McGregor, has come to a standstill. What with the arrested-by-the-Swiss business and all.

--- Big Bugs - I've always loved Guillermo Del Toro's Mimic. I don't care what you say! I think it's great fun (plus a super-hot Jeremy Northam and Josh Brolin). But even Guillermo himself has never been happy with it - the studio messed with the final cut pretty significantly; this was before he was The Guillermo Del Toro, after all - and he's apparently been working on a Director's Cut and has updated the status of that. Plus for Cronos too!

--- RadioHuh? - Thom Yorke's chosen his band for some solo shows and it includes Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. BFFs, I'm sure.

--- And lastly yet most importantly - and I'm sure more news on this will reveal itself very soon (they say today) and when that happens I will probably give it a post all its own - but Paranormal Activity is expanding into bunches more towns this upcoming weekend after a successful run on 12 screens this past weekend. The new cities are:

"The film will play in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, DC & Baltimore, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Sacramento, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose and Tampa."

And if it keeps doing well I imagine it will branch out from there too. Honestly I believe they've been planning on expanding this all the way out this entire time but are just using this "Demand It!" trickery as a buzz-builder. And lo, it has worked. Still, the movie's fun and worth seeing and it's sure nice to have a spooky movie not named Saw coming out in October at last.

I really hope they bring Paranormal Activity to Australia. I so rarely get to see any frightening movies in a theatre. The last one was Quarantine, way back in December.
