Exclamation Point!

.
I know I haven't gotten around to divulging this lil' factoid since it's a recent development, but is anyone sporting newly acquired massive-wood for Steven Soderbergh's The Informant! with Matthew Damon? The trailer sends me into giggle fits and I am just tickled to tears with anticipation for it all of a sudden. I think it's gonna be a real keeper, I do. And adding to my enthusiasm this morning, and the reason for this post's existence, is this bit from Harry Knowles' rave review at AICN:

"Another great performance is given by Melanie Lynskey as Ginger Whitacre, Mark's wife. I'm never really sure of what she knows. She's kept out of so much of it, but then the looks between her and Matt... well they tell a lot or at the very least allude to something more than what they're telling us. There's such a genuine sense of caring from her character and by the time you get to the end... you just kinda have to love her. I'm sure you remember her great performance in HEAVENLY CREATURES - which was really the key performance in that great film. She's been a really busy lady recently, but in this - and hopefully in UP IN THE AIR - we'll be seeing a bit of a resurgence of her career into a bit more prominent work. She absolutely deserves it."

Yes! Yes she does deserve it. I've been clamoring for her to get some love for years now, ever since Heavenly Creatures, so the fact that the world is maybe catching up a bit is incredibly satisfying. For her too, I imagine. And just earlier this year she wowed me in a brief part in Sam Mendes' Away We Go too. Yay Melanie!

And I haven't been paying a wink of attention to Up in the Air - Jason "Juno" Reitman's new flick with George Clooney - yet but I have a feeling that's another one that'll sneak stealthily into my good yet obsessive graces too. The reviews from the festivals seem to be pretty ecstatic, so much that its release date just got dragged from December 4th to November 13th to capitalize on its buzz, and I didn't even know Miss Lynskey was on it until now. Curiosity peaked!

If you want to see her in a more substantial role, I highly recommend checking out FOREIGN CORRESPONDENTS, a little-seen indie film she did with Wil Wheaton of all people.

Ugh, she's so one of the most underrated actresses in the world. Also damn good in a way too tiny part in Away We Go.

OMG let this be her year?!
