Stars During Lunchtime

.

As I type this the director Todd Solondz and one of the stars of his upcoming flick (IMDB says it's in "post-production" finally!) Life During Wartime, the talented lady Allison Janney, are sitting at a table outside the restaurant across the street from my office.

I stood right beside them when I went to get a coffee. I did not pee my pants. Actually... let me make sure... no, no pee. Okay maybe a little pee. Don't judge me. SIGH.

This is the second time I've been in Solondz' presence since moving here; he sat directly in front of me in the theater when I went to see Blade II way back whenever the hell that movie came out.

Anyway, let's take this opportunity since it's presented itself in such a pee-worthy fashion to take stock of how the cast for LDW turned out. The film was in limbo for so long and there were so many names attached I don't think I really ever knew who was gonna end up in it; only now that I see it listed as having actually really been filmed do I feel comfortable looking through the names on its IMDb page with some sort of certainty of their actual presence within. I had no idea Janney was around, for one. In theory she seems a terrific fit for Solondz. And THANK THE STARS Paul Reubens name is still listed. Yay for that. The delightful Shirley Henderson, aka "Moaning Myrtle" from the Harry Potter films, is top-listed as a character named "Joy" a la Jane Adams' character from Happiness... other names that inspire glee: Ciarán Hinds, Ally Sheedy, Gaby Hoffman, Charlotte Rampling... oh please let this movie be wonderful! Oh please oh please I need Todd Solondz in my cinematic world.
