--- Off With Her Head - I might have (repeatedly)
expressed dismay at the trailer for
Alice in Wonderland (specifically, Depp-exhaustion), but I do mostly like the design of what I'm seeing (except for Depp). Of course I do, I usually always like the way Burton's movies look, at least. So I agree with
this post at A Blog Next Door's praise of Helena Bonham Carter's Red Queen design. Love the giant wobbly fake-looking head. It's creepy in a way I didn't expect.
--- Meanwhile, bless his angry heart, Piper's
having none of it.
--- Nothing To See Here - I was terrifically amused by
this piece at Cinematical on Mark Romanek's adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's fantastic book
Never Let Me Go (starring Keira Knightley, seen on-set there to the right) in that it introduces itself as a post about the translation of the book to the screen and then the author refuses to talk about anything at all because he rightfully knows that to know the central conceit of the story is to have the entire thing ruined for you. I give Romanek more credit though, and think the material can be shaped into something that will please people who already know what it's about. But we'll see.
--- Summer Remains - Over at
Low Resolution Joe's taking a look at a few of the movies still left to the Summer that he's looking forward to, and pretty much sums up how I felt after seeing the trailer for Drew Barrymore's
Whip It! - excitement, elation, et cetera. That's my girl
"Balls deep!" y'all!
--- Dream Weaver -
Slash/Film has the teaser poster for the
Nightmare on Elm Street remake (not bad) which I kept forgetting to post, as well as a larger version of that annoyingly dark picture of Mr. Krueger that I got annoyed at last week which they've lightened and made somewhat slightly clearer. Click on it there to the right to see and marvel at the cloudy somethingness of it all!!!
--- And finally,
io9 has seen the first episode of the V remake and basically says that we've got something to fill the void left by
Battlestar Galactica coming. Dudes... that's a claim and a fucking half. But still, I'm way excited.

So I'm pretty psyched for Never Let Me Go. Alex Garland on the script is a good sign...I think it will be polarizing but I'm hoping to like it.
