There's a terrific article over at Fangoria on a couple-years-old discovery of thought-lost Halloween footage that's just now finally getting some detailing.

Apparently Don May Jr. from Synapse Films found "45,000 feet of material" in 2006 and has been trying to get some support from the usual Halloween players - the Akkads, naturally - but hasn't been able to drum any interest up, unbelievably. So he's taken his case to Fangoria, looking for financial support to get the footage processed so they can see what's there (there's so much of it they couldn't afford to do such a thing on their own).

Anyway, if you're a Halloween lover like me, this is well worth reading. They should set up a fund, let us geeks throw some donations their way... maybe in exchange for a piece of the original film! Just a frame is all I ask! Just a frame... oh to dream... sigh.
