Sam, that was almost this post's title! "You were a very apt pupil, a very apt pupil." Gah I can hear the way Jimmy delivers it echoing in my head. LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH.

the line is so brilliantly delivered... the extent to which aw-shucks all-american wonderful-life jimmy stewart is transformed into a sadistic filthy spiteful oppressive-patriarchy stand-in is just one of the many things that makes this movie so brilliant...
