A Very Vampire-Priest Summer

.
Oh now this is what I'm talkin' about. Via Focus Features blog:

"After it's a high profile international premiere at Cannes this month, Korean auteur Park Chan-wook's latest movie, Thirst, will be released by Focus Features in July."

Yes! July!!! That's so much fucking sooner than I was anticipating! Please let it be on my birthday weekend so I can go and see the new Harry Potter and the new Park Chan-wook movie on like the same day and have the bestest birthday ever!

And there's a review of the film (it's already been released in South Korea) over here that's pretty positive (although screw all this "I'm A Cyborg... was a misstep" noise I'm hearing lately). Choice quote:

"Since his breakthrough with Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance in 2002, Park’s work has been characterized by its visual inventiveness, dark humour, intense acting performances, and strange but compelling shifts in tone. The first 90 minutes of Thirst is a robust display of these talents, but it is anchored in a melancholic lyricism that is new to Park’s oeuvre. Although the focus of its narrative movement is not always clear, in its best moments, Thirst offers something of the poetic force of cinema’s timeless masterpieces."
