Who Should Blow Abe Lincoln's Head Off?

Is it just the fact that I've grown so used to Jude Law rockin' the 'stache and period clothes on the set of Sherlock Holmes that he was the first person that popped into my head upon EW.com raising the question of who should play John Wilkes Booth in Spielberg's Lincoln bio-pic, or is there something there?

I think they look pretty similar, at least. And JWB was, as that link says, a big time acting star at the time he murdered Lincoln, and Jude has proven he can self-consciously play Actor pretty well before.

If not Jude though then who? They suggest Clooney or Depp, who are both bigger movie stars than Jude right now, that's true, as well as being fine actors both. Hmm.

Matthew McConaughey.

Seriously.

He's got the accent. He's got the charm (Booth had a stack of ladies' photos in his pocket). Maybe this could be his comeback. It would be a shame if "Frailty" was a fluke.

Now, who should play my Conspiracy Boyfriend, Samuel Arnold? (He was part of the original conspiracy to kidnap Lincoln for Confederate prisoners of war. However, after Appomattox, when the war was basically over, Booth decided to up the ante and upgrade to assassination. My boyfriend Sam Arnold wanted nothing to do with that.)

I did like McBongo in Frailty, so I will give some benefit of the doubt, but otherwise I've found him increasingly unbearable. I don't know if I can get over it. I even thought he was terrible in Tropic Thunder while most other people did not.

Samuel Arnold was cute! Who knew? Well you did apparently. Way to catch your hooks in him before the rest of us there,. Mike. ;-) As for who should play him, he's reminding me of somebody and I can't figure out who. Dammit! I'll comment again if I think of who it is.

I'm going to have to go with James Franco on this one. Jude Law, physically attractive as he is, sort of just skeeves me out. Sorry.

That pic of Samuel Arnold looks like a younger, de-bloated Val Kilmer, I'd say.
