Here's one more attempt at finding a ray of sunshine on a cold and barren day of soul-crushing horrors... it's Will Smith talking about what exactly it is he and Steven Spielberg are working on with regards to the property Oldboy (via):

"We're looking at [Oldboy] right now. Not the film though, it's the original source material. There's the original comics of Oldboy that they made the first film from. And that's what we're working from, not an adaptation of the film."

So can us Park Chan-wook fans breathe easily now? A little bit easier, I think. I haven't read any of the comics... in fact I'd forgotten altogether that the film was based off of comics, so I can't say how different Park's film is from that source material. But at least this gives us some room to wiggle here. Right? Wiggle wiggle?
