I Am 2 Watchmen Links

Sheesh, Watchmen director Zach Snyder's certainly making the rounds, isn't he? I suppose the conversation surrounding his movie had lulled for a millisecond so he decided to swoop in and offer half the interwebs some tidbits to re-fuel the fire. Anyhoo, here's two more talking points to chew on!

--- Penis Talk! io9 has some quotes wherein Snyder opens up on Dr. Manhattan's grand enschlongening:

"It was a weird process. We made a wedge. That’s a visual effects term. It was done in quick time. We would scroll the length up and down. And we wrapped it around a frame. Of course we were worried about the rating. Yeah. We are still nervous about it. It wasn’t so much about taking any inches off. It was more about how many times you get to see him. We have an R rating right now. So they’ve seen him. Maybe, partly because he is CG, they thought it was okay. It was a really practical decision to make it that length. Then we put him in the thong, which is CG. We basically took his outfit from the book. But, as in the book, we took it off him. Because he just lets it go. He certainly lets it all hang out."

--- Ozy Does 54 - And via Defamer comes some spoilerish details from a press screening of some scenes from the film, specifically regarding the opening credits sequence to the flick:

"The first thing he showed us was the opening credit sequence...With pin point accurate precision, we get shot after shot that’s filmed in slow motion where we see actual events mixed in with the Watchmen universe. We see Dr. Manhattan with JFK, Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias outside Studio 54, Dr. Manhattan on the moon, plus tons of other crazy things…as I don’t want to spoil it all. During all these shots we hear Bob Dylan’s The Times They Are a Changing, and it’s played throughout all the photos and filmmaker credits. While the song is under 4 minutes, they’ve clearly extended the song as the credits are 6 minutes.

What’s amazing about the credits is the way it slowly submerges you into the universe. The shots have a purpose and a motion, they’re almost 3D the way the camera moves in them. Trust me, after these credits end, every viewer will be entranced."

The mixing up of real-world footage and fake movie footage reminds me of Snyder's opening credit sequence for his remake of Dawn of the Dead (which is a good thing to be reminded of).
