--- Dirty Rotten Remakes - So
they're remaking 1988's Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (which I learned from that link was itself a remake of 1964's
Bedtime Story with Marlon Brando and David Niven - I did not know that!). Which, whatever, I really enjoy that movie but it is the sort of basic silly story of con-men that can and has been told a billion different times.

No, all i really care about here is this reminded me of the lovely and amazing
Glenne Headly, who co-starred opposite
Scoundrel's Steve Martin and Michael Caine (not to mention starring in
one of my favorite movies of ever,
Paperhouse), and suddenly I miss her terribly. Where have you gone, Glenne Headly? Why have you forsaken us? I mean, via IMDb I see you still work, but not in anything
I see. You cheat me, woman.
--- The UnBirthday Boy -
Johnny Depp will indeed be playing The Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's
Alice in Wonderland. No one saw that coming in the entire world. I actually think that Depp ought to play every single part in the movie, save Alice (and only not her because she's already cast). The Cheshire Cat, The Red Queen, The Caterpillar... I can picture him in every role, can't you?
Also via
that link, Depp is playing Tonto in a big screen version of
The Lone Ranger. Weird.
--- Unfortunate Quote of the Day - Via
this post at Cinematical comes an actual quote from Daniel Craig on the subject of James Bond ever seducing another man:
"No. Kill him and then seduce him [laughs] but not seduce him. This is that question that keeps eternally coming up but it's never been on the agenda and we've never had a discussion about it. It's not something that I desire or want. No."
Sadness. It was always
a (wet) dream to imagine such a thing and not really in line with the James Bond imagined by Ian Fleming, and that's what Craig means, so I get it, but sad all the same. By the way, the
post at Cinematical I linked to is kinda sorta marginally homophobic, no? Check it out and tell me if I'm just being overly sensitive because of having my Bond-on-Man-Action dreams dashed or not, but there's a real "Gay Is Icky!" vibe to the whole thing.
--- Zombie Rape - It's not the first time I've seen the name of the movie
Deadgirl before, but
this post at io9 is the first time I've heard what the movie is about, and color me intrigued. It's something to be paid attention to whenever horror actually tackles tough subjects and isn't just about blood and boobs, and it sounds like
Deadgirl will be if nothing else hella provocative. Hopefully it'll get an actual release (IMDb just says "2009") and I can check it out sometime.

I just read that link over at IMDB. It made me think three things:
1. Another Pirates movie? Seriously?
2. Mad Hatter? Duh.
3. I wish Terry Gilliam was directing the Lone Ranger movie.
I love your idea of him playing every role. Although it does remind me of the Oompa Loompa from the new Willy Wonka movie. And if less things reminded me of that movie, I'd be a happier man.
I agree, el gringo, that Willy Wonka pretty much sucked - especially Depp's weird performance - and should be forgotten. And I'd actually forgotten that all the Oompa Loompas were played by that one dude.
