One of his least-talked about films. I own it and have seen it twice and am still not sure what I think of it.

What I am sure of is that Debra Kara Unger's face and voice and persona is, well let me quote John Simon, "Unger, who plays Catherine, has a quality of ecstatic sensual absorption the other actresses cannot manage."

She's a brilliant actress, I think. And Elias Koteas looks and acts uncannily like Robert De Niro, which makes him aces in my book.

Oh, and it's the only film I've seen where somebody SPOILER WARNING

...fucks a wound....thats's Cronenberg for ya.

Gotta love Cronenberg. Wound fucker!

I haven't seen Crash in years... maybe not since it came out. It's on my mind because Netflix just sent it to me, so I'll probably rewatch it very soon.

I miss Unger. She was great there for a brief bit, then disappeared from my radar. I see on IMDb that she's still working though. That's a great quote, Harry, re: her.

Koteas is so hot in this movie.

It's the only time I've ever found Elias Koteas attractive. Which is worrysome in and of itself.

He was also really good in his brief role in Zodiac. His reaction in the scene where your boy Jake goes to the police station at some real late hour in the night to look through some police files and the place is closed: Jake's banging on the glass, "I just need two minutes! Just two minutes!"

Elias Koteas just looks at him for a long time, no affect, no expression, and then just walks over to the door and lets him in.

I love this movie and get weird looks upon saying so. It's just all so deliberate and moody, and unnerving in its eroticism. Everyone delivers their lines in such a particular way, even the camera just glides in this sleek, mechanical way. This scene and the Vaughn/James relationship are fascinating. A perfect ending too, and I like that it was Cronenberg's creation.
