Please, For The Love Of All Things Good And True...

... DO NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN. Via DH:

"Film producer JC Spink wants singer Alicia Keys to play 355 in the "Y: The Last Man" movie adaptation reports UGO.

Spink is working with director DJ Caruso on the film adaptation of the Brian K. Vaughn property about a the sole surviving male human."

First off... the men handling this property go by DJ and JC.

Secondly, as for Keys... for fuck's sake NO. Spink goes on to mention Zoe Saldana (Star Trek's new Uhura, who I actually think could be an alright choice)... and then utters the name Jada Pinkett Smith, and again I feel ill. I know there are like no black actresses in the world and all, guys. Ugh. Be creative, you stupid fucks. Maybe find somebody that hasn't gotten their chance to shine (and annoy the hell out of me) already. Unlike Keys. Or... shudder... Jada.

I have a couple suggestions, without even having given this any previous thought, off the top of my head: Tracie Thoms from Death Proof, or Gina Torres from Angel and Firefly. Both of them could kick ass in the role.

(Sidenote: Speaking of Thoms, I had completelly forgotten she played Jaye's best friend in Wonderfalls until re-watching that episode the other night. Thoms gets my vote. She already proved in Death Proof she can kick some ass.)

Anyway, hese people holding this property are making me very nervous. I feel very attached to Y since reading it. It's a great fucking story. And if Shia and Alicia Keys are its stars... I make have to maim myself and... others.

I would like to throw Naomi Harris's hat into the ring for her. She already has experience dealing with the last man on earth. Well, the last scruffy/sexy indie looking man in the greater London area anyway.

Naomi's a terrific choice. Totally! She kept entertaining me in the Pirates movies even when Johnny Depp had failed.

Alicia Keys is not a bad actress. She kicked ass in Smokin' Aces, was pleasant in The Nanny Diaries and I am looking forward to seeing her in The Secret Life of Bees later this year.

However, Naomie Harris and Zoe Saldana would be good choices as well =)

I haven't seen AK act yet, but I think the fact that just seeing a still picture of her makes me want to set her on fire might speak against my enjoyment of her in the film. I am trying to rein in my irrational hatred for her... BUT IT EXISTS. I don't really know why, except her caterwauling. There are plenty of other caterwaulers I don't feel such a loathing for. She just has this... air of... something. We must have clashing visual pheremones. I like to think she'd feel the same way towards me. We're nemesis...es...es.
