Transsiberian, Spooked

.

That's the new poster, via STYD.
The old one was better.

I was a lot more excited for Transsiberian - the new movie by Brad Anderson, the director responsible for the deeply unsettling duo of Session 9 and The Machinist - before I watched Anderson's episode of the NBC series Fear Itself, called "Spooked," last night. I suppose a lot of the blame for the episode's lousiness can be foisted upon having Eric Roberts (gag) as your star, but it was still was DOA; a total stink-bomb.

But Transsiberian stars the wonderful (Avian Bone Syndrome'd) Emily Mortimer, as well as current-MNPP-obsession Thomas Kretschmann, not to mention Kate Mara of Brokeback Mountain and cute Edward Noriega and Woody Harrelson and Ben Kingsley... quite a cast, that. So while the reviews I saw when it screened at back at Sundance weren't outstanding, and "Spooked" has me just that, I still have hope. Session 9 is terribly underrated.

Transsiberian is set to come out on August 1st in NYC, but IMDb doesn't list when it's released elsewhere... smells fishy, that.

I'd follow Mrs. Nivola to the ends of the Earth, so of course I want to see this. A lot, actually. Like, if she wasn't in it, I'd still be intrigued by it.

So, yay.

You know who would love that new poster? Gus Van Sant.
