Did You Know...

... that Ingrid Bergman fell in love with the city of Rochester, NY while living there with her first husband (who was a professor at my alma mater)? This was just prior to filming Casablanca and becoming INGRID BERGMAN. She convinced Hitchcock to film Spellbound in Rochester four years later because she loved it so.

Well if you've ever met a film-geek from Rochester you probably knew that already, since it's the most impressive bit of film history attached to our fair city (well, that and film itself basically being invented there - Holla, George Eastman!). Also, Phillip Seymour Hoffman (not to mention Taye Diggs) is from there. When I worked at the local indie movie house during college, I waited on PSH once. This was right around the time Happiness had come out, so I just stared at him suspiciously as he asked for extra napkins. Weirdo! Also, we had a big fancy premiere screening of Jackie Brown at that theater because Robert Forster is also from Rochester. Big deal, huh?

My point is, I am flying home this afternoon and will be gone until Tuesday. Y'all are just going to have to amuse yourself with those previous anecdotes over this long weekend then. Au revoir, Pee Wee!
