Paging Doctor Burkle

Oh lord, this is gonna be one of them super-geek-out posts; shield your eyes if sustained happy-rants frighten you...

It's a happy happy time here inside my tiny brain right now upon reading the news, via AICN, that Amy Acker - the gal who stole my heart as Winifred 'Fred' Burkle on Angel - has joined the cast of Joss Whedon's new show Dollhouse. Says AICN:

"Joss Whedon reports on his website that “Angel” icon Amy Acker (“Alias” “Drive”) has been cast in Whedon’s coming Fox series “Dollhouse” as Dr. Claire Saunders.

Acker joins the project alongside a number of “Angel” vets, including writer-producers Whedon, Tim Minear, Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain, as well as “Dollhouse” lead Eliza Dushku – who played Faith on both “Angel” and “Buffy The Vampire Slayer.'"

There isn't a week that's passed since her brief stints on Alias and the aborted-by-FOX Drive ended that my thoughts haven't turned to her and wondered where my girl had gotten to, so this brings me super-ulta-extra-special joy. Yay! As if enough of my soul didn't belong to Joss already...

Let's just pray that FOX pulls their shit together this go-round, because if Dollhouse is handled the way that they handled both Firefly and Drive, I swear to all things good and decent on the face of this planet that a hard rain will be coming to their town.
