I Am Wednesday Morning's Triple Link

--- Finally! Via Fangoria comes word that the Weinsteins rolled over in bed and discovered their fat asses had been smothering Greg McLean's killer-croc movie Rogue for months and now they're going to release it in "the top ten markets" on April 25th.

It's nice to have someone think you're better than you are, so much thanks to my bud Sean, who brought this news to my attention, for assuming it'd bring me more Weinstein-related "consternation"... but ya see, when it comes down to the meat of things, I'm a selfish bitch and just thrill at the notion that I'll be able to see the movie myself in a theater and within three weeks time at that. Sorry to all y'all who want to see this away from a top market. Me me me!

But, just for ol' times sake - Fuck you, Harvey Weinstein. Man that sentence always hits the spot.

--- Man-on-Gute Action - No, I have not been watching Dancing With The Stars, even though my beloved Steve Guttenberg has been on it. I just can never remember when the thing's on, and I can't bring myself to set the Tivo to record the entire thing. I did watch a little of the first episode, and he brought me plenty of Gute-glee as always, even though yes, he's one cheesy ass mofo. And I love him for it; I'd expect no less. Well last night, I guess he brought to the stage the first man-on-man tango, which you can see over at Towleroad... I love him so much it makes my sanity suspect. I'm glad he's gone now though, so I can forget I ever tangled with the idea of seriously watching that show. Phew! Bullet dodged!

--- Veronica Mars Returns! Okay, not quite, but close: I skipped posting on news of VM's creator Rob Thomas' third pilot deal the other week - a remake of the Kiwi show Outrageous Fortune (which unfortunately is not based off the Bette Midler/Shelley Long movie I grew up watching dozens of times... seriously, I love that movie) -about a family of thieves and the matriarch who tries to set them onto the straight and narrow - because I was experiencing a bit of overload, what with this pilot and his reinventing Beverly Hills 90210 and his own previous show Cupid - who'd have thunk a gifted show-runner would actually be sought after?

Anyway, news comes via E! this morning that Kristen Bell, Thomas' Miss Mars herself, my love, is in talks to play one of the daughters on this Outrageous Fortune show. I... I'm curious about this one, and hesitant to squeal my usual "Kristen Bell is working yay!" squeal... I love the thought of her and Thomas working together again too, and I'm sure she does as well, but..

Well, if I may be so blunt - and I may - with my hopes sky-high for Forgetting Sarah Marshall... I don't know, isn't she a little hot right now to be playing second fiddle to (the admittedly lovely) Rene Russo? I guess I'm just used to how she had every second of screen-time on VM, and am not totally sold on her taking a role in what will probably be a large ensemble show - look how well that turned out with Heroes. I mean I loved her on Heroes, but I spent about 95% of that show just waiting for her to show up and bitching when she wasn't on-screen. Me needs her all the time!

I've actually seen Outrageous Fortune (the tv show). Hmmmm . . . I guess I could see it working. I mean, it's basically just Arrested Development except the family is working class, and there's no Ron Howard.
