Gyllen-Prince

.

I did see the headlines this past week regarding Orlando Bloom possible then nixed involvement in something called Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, but nothing about that inspired me to click on any of that news to check it out. Add the name Jake Gyllenhaal to the mix and magic, immediate frenzy. Via Latino Review:

"Ok, on the heel’s of yesterday’s news that Orlando Bloom is NOT going to be Dastan in PRINCE OF PERSIA: The Sands of Time, I decided to snoop around today and find out who is or who Disney is at least looking at.

Ok, here is what I just learned from multiple sources in Hollywood just minutes ago.

THE OFFER IS OUT TO JAKE GYLLENHAAL!...

... if you read my script review “HERE”, the role is very physical. Lots of Parkour involved and I don’t know if Disney feels like waiting for Jake to heal his ankle. Then again, they might get Jake one hell of a stunt double so let’s see. After all, Tobey Maguire did Spiderman 2 hurt. If Jake books the role, ya’ll know where you heard it first. I loved the games for over twenty years. Hopefully, the movie will be just as good.

The film of course is based on the video game, which follows an adventurous prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world."

I know nothing of this videogame, but by googling it I learned the lead is hot and often half-dressed, so that's enough for me. I'm a simple man with simple needs, after all. Nevermind... the whole... you know... he's the totally wrong race thing, okay? Don't complicate matters! I'll stay tuned to news of this one, as I always do where my Jakey's involved.

Speaking of, I stumbled across this new-to-me picture yesterday, and shall share because I am both kind and generous and it is both hot and hottest:

Oh, I could totally buy Jake in the role... slightly cocky and very topless.

The Prince of Persia series is probably my favourite ever trilogy of games. I really hope it actually escapes the crap game-to-movie curse. The non-casting of Bloom is a good sign.

Uh... ya alright, Glenn? Something against Jake taking on a video-game property? I'm fine with it in early-theory (til I know more about the movie and the game, at least); he's been wanting to take on a big action-based property for awhile, or at least that's what the rumors were. If it's true, it'll be nice to see him butch it up some, get all punchy.
