Well Where Do You Think You're Going, Pilgrim?

You're supposed to read the title of this post in a John Wayne voice, by the way. Okay... done? Good.

I like Michael Cera quite a bit. He was my favorite thing in Juno (see previous post) and Superbad was super-enjoyable. But it's not really to the point that I'm scouring the internets for news of him. He ought to be such since a dear friend who reads this blog is Jake-level obsessed with him and would appreciate me posting on him more often, I think.

With that in mind, I clicked on this story at DH:

"Michael Cera is in final negotiations to star in the adventure romance "Scott Pilgrim's Little Life" for Universal Pictures says The Hollywood Reporter.

Based Bryan Lee O'Malley's graphic novel, "Life" tells the story of a young slacker (Cera) who meets the woman of his dreams but finds that he can only win her heart by battling and defeating her seven evil ex-boyfriends.

Edgar Wright ("Hot Fuzz," "Shaun of the Dead") is directing and co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Bacall. Production is aiming to begin this Fall."

Lo and behold what wonders were held in this story! I speak of Edgar Wright, of course. No offense to Michael Cera, but it's Wright's next project falling into place that grabs my nethers here. And yes, Edgar Wright, the man behind Shaun of the Dead, making a film starring Michael Cera is a kick-ass combination.

My point being... very cool! This news is very cool!

Scott Pilgrim is awesome and he would be perfect... I am obsessed with Michael Cera... he's also acquired the rights to C.D. Payne's Youth in Revolt series of books and plans to adapt and write them I believe..

In addtion to being bugass cutein a refreshingly unconventional way, MC's understated acting is appealing. His characters in JUNO and SUPERBAD are kind, decent and admirable. they are sweet without being sickly. I hope we see much more of him. Maybe we can start a galactic campaign to match MC with Jake in a movie....

Jason, you write as though you haven't read the Scott Pilgrim books. We need to fix that.
