Routh Himself

Awhile back I squealed with wild abandon over news that Mary Harron, the terrifically talented director of American Psycho and The Notorious Bettie Page, was going to be directing one of the hour-long installments of Fear Itself, a new anthology horror series set to air on NBC this Fall. Now, via BD, comes the official press release, and included therein are run-downs of what every episode will be about and whom they will star. Here's the word on Harron's piece:

""Community" is directed by Mary Harron ("American Psycho," "The Notorious Betty Page," "Big Love") and written by Kelly Kennemer ("The Music Within"). When a young married couple, played by [Brandon] Routh and [Shiri] Appleby, find the perfect house in the perfect neighborhood, their lives seem...well...perfect. But as the dark underbelly of their neighborhood creeps to the surface, they soon realize that their neighbors will go to any extreme -- even murder -- to make sure that they comply with their twisted sense of conformity. John Billingsley (Star Trek: Enterprise") also stars."

So... anybody else hoping Harron treats us to as much Brandon Routh eye-candy as she did with Christian Bale in American Psycho? I know, besides being about a thousand times better as an actor than Routh, Bale's hotter, and more interesting, and there was a good reason for all the skin on display in AP. But ya know what? With a little effort, there's always a justifiable reason for skin-on-display; you just need to know how to tweak it. Look at soap operas! They've got it down to a science. Everybody's always coming home from the gym or coming out of the shower and getting amnesia from a chunk of fallen space debris and forgetting what this strange concept of "clothing" means. Any of those'll do.

Amazing how I can turn anything into some deranged rant for a random male to take his clothes off, isn't it? Perhaps I ought to write for soap operas. I've seen Soapdish like 1000 times, I could totally do it!

What is this post about again? I can't even remember. This is what happens when I mix Sudafed with a double Mochachino. Oh... right. Sorry, Mary Harron. Make good TV!
