I Am (Josh Duhamel's Bikini) Brief Link

.
--- Gay Wizards! - JK Rowling recently spoke to an Edinburgh school newspaper on the subject of Prof. Dumbledore's homosexuality, and had this to say:

"I think homophobia is a fear of people loving, more than it is of the sexual act. There seems to be an innate distaste for the love involved, which I find absolutely extraordinary. There were people who thought, well why haven't we seen Dumbledore's angst about being gay? Where was that going to come in? And then the other thing was — and I had letters saying this — that, as a gay man, he would never be safe to teach in a school... He's a very old single man. You have to ask: why is it so interesting? People have to examine their own attitudes. It's a shade of character. Is it the most important thing about him? No, it's Dumbledore for God's sake. There are 20 things that are relevant to the story before his sexuality."

--- Haunted Houses! - There's an interview at STYD with Oren Peli, the director of the much-buzzed-about haunted-house film Paranormal Activity, a film I previously posted on here. Peli himself is going to be directing the bigger, studio-budgeted remake; I hope that means we'll get a chance to see the original.

--- Superhero Sequels! - Bryan Singer is probably definitely going to do a second Superman movie... maybe. With different writers. And taking his cues from Hulk-like reboots. Maybe.

--- Boners! - The Guardian, of all places, has an article on male actors revealing their erect manhoods in legitimate - i.e. not pornographic, or at least, not only pornographic - films. Why am I linking to this? Why not?

--- Prolonging One's Vice-Riddled Life Through Watercolors! - I guess the director responsible for the most recent versions of The Importance of Being Ernest and A Man For All Seasons has his sights set on another Oscar Wilde property - that being The Picture of Dorian Gray. Again, why am I linking to this? Surely it's off my usual beat; I haven't bothered to see either of those other films. I guess the fact that Dorian Gray is more horrific than the rest of Wilde's snark-encrusted output could be what's interesting me, right? No, all it is is this reminded me that Josh Duhamel played Dorian in a version of the story in 2004, which I haven't even seen, save these stills, these sweet sweet stills that I cherish...

Oh, why do they have to re-make "Paranormal Activity?" Why can't they just release it as is? Seems like it might even be more effective as a gritty, realistic "video".

I agree completely. All the reviews of this original version have been ecstatic; I don't get why they feel the need to redo it, and don't just release this supposedly stellar lo-fi version. That's Hollywood for ya. I just hope that, since the original director is attached, that means they won't throw his original version into the trash for us to never see.

The only thing that would make me feel better (cuz, really, it's all about me) is if the director pulls a "Funny Games" and does a shot-for-shot re-do of it, but still on (hi-def) video.

Other than that I guess we can hope the DVD of "PA" comes out before the re-do does.
