Pic of the Day

.

That's the titular box of Richard Kelly's next flick, The Box, via Twitch. The film stars Cameron Diaz and James Marsden as a couple unto whom this box is delivered and, apparently, it turns their lives upside down. I haven't read Richard Matheson's story "Button, Button" on which the flick is based, and am undecided whether to wait until I see the flick to do so or not. I know the box - spoiler! or not, what do I know - offers them whatever they want in exchange for the death of someone they do not know. Sounds morally complicated!

Anyway, Kelly also updated us on the status of the film at MySpace:

"THAT’S A WRAP
Current mood: working

Hello everyone... I haven't blogged in a long time because, well... I've been in Boston/Virginia directing my third movie!

And now I am back in LA and we have officially wrapped production on The Box.

It was an amazing experience working with Cameron Diaz, James Marsden, Frank Langella and the entire supporting cast and crew. My editors have been working non-stop, and we are beginning to work on the visual effects, signing a composer, etc.

As soon as Warner Bros. gives us a release date I will let you know...

In the meantime... the DVD for Southland Tales comes out March 18th."

Well that's good to know, re: Southland's DVD release - now all y'all who missed it in theaters (and that's, what, 99.44% of you?) can see the movie that made me go schizophrenic. Yay!
