5 Off The Top Of My Head - The Candyland Cast

.

Now that we know that Hasbro has had a master plan in getting at least four of their boardgames turned into films - I never realized how small we were all thinking with the Ridley Scott directing Monopoly rumors - our eyes must turn to their other properties and wonder what could come to pass. I agree with AICN's assertion that Candyland could make for a truly effed up kid's movie, but what would be do for casting these iconic characters? Here are a few of my thoughts...

Adrien Brody as Mr. Mint

Cate Blanchett as Queen Frostine

Ellen Page as Princess Lolly

Jack Black as Gloppy the Molasses Monster

Ralph Fiennes as Lord Licorice

And that's not even getting to the other characters in the Candyland universe: King Kandy, Jolly, Grandma Nut, and Plumpy.

Who would you cast in any of these parts? And yes, I think this is a ridiculous idea - I'm just rolling with the future, man.

Genius. Though I don't ever recall there being a Lord Licorice. Sounds like a mistake to me.

Anyway, Wilford Brimley as Plumpy (obviously), Edie McClurg as Grandma Nut, Danny DeVito as Jolly, and since I have to include him in every fantasy casting I do, Brian Cox as King Kandy.

I'd never heard of his "Candyland" game, but the Wiki page made me laugh - "It has become a cultural icon in the U.S., where it is often the first board game played by children because it requires no ability to read and only minimal counting skills."

Aagh, good ol' American family values.
