Heath Links

Morning, everybody. First thing I thought of upon waking up today? Yup. It's gonna be one of those days. I'm not feeling too talky. Here are some Heath related links, though. (I'll update this as I find more worth looking at)

--- AO Scott takes a look at Heath's too-brief but still remarkable career. So does Dana Stevens at Slate. Both of these pieces made me tear up all over again.

--- Roger Ebert wrote up a nice little piece on Heath.

--- Lisa Schwartzbaum at EW talks Heath, and they've got a few other tributes up too (links at the bottom of the page).

--- The article from the New York Times.

--- Gawker has assembled a sort-of time-line of coverage of the story yesterday.

--- A great piece in Time magazine.

--- Via JJ, comes a quote from Michelle's father:

"I think [poet] Tennyson got it right in the poem when he described someone as having died at a young age but burning the candles at both ends, and oh what a beautiful flame he made, that was Heath, what a beautiful flame he made and a great talent.

“My heart goes out to everyone in his family and my family. The saddest thing is his 2-year-old daughter [Matilda] whom he just loved dearly."

--- And also from JJ comes a quote from Heath's own Dad:

"Heath’s family confirms the very tragic, untimely and accidental passing of our dearly loved son, brother and doting father of Matilda. He was found peacefully asleep in his New York apartment by his housekeeper at 3:30 p.m. U.S. time.

“We would like to thank our friends and everyone around the world for their well wishes and kind thoughts at this time. Heath has touched so many people on so many different levels during his short life but few had the pleasure of truly knowing him.

“He was a down to earth, generous, kind-hearted, life-loving and selfless individual who was extremely inspirational to many. Please now respect our family’s need to grieve and come to terms with our loss privately."

Thanks for the link, Stacie, that was great stuff. I don't read Sunset Gun nearly as much as I ought to; Kim Morgan rocks.
