STYD is reporting that Viggo Mortensen, thought to be the front-runner for the father character in the film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's brutally depressing The Road, has been beaten out for whatever reason by Guy Pearce.Are they sure Guy's not playing a corpse? There are a lot of wizened starving wandering sorts in the book; Pearce would be perfect for one of them.
I kid. Sorta. Pearce could be as fine a choice as Mortensen, and Pearce has got the added bonus of being so thin he'll more than convincingly get across the lack of food in this post-apocalyptic tale. I'd worry for Viggo if he lost all the weight needed. Stay healthy, Viggo!
