I Am Link

--- I have to keep pinching myself when I remember that Jonny Greenwood, aka 1/4 of Radiohead, has done the score for PT Anderson's There Will Be Blood, because that's some awesome shit. EW.com has an interview up with both Jonny and PTA talking about their collaboration.

--- Now that "Devil Hands" Harvey has released his grip on All The Boys Love Mandy Lane, it appears that we might actually get to see it. BD says the well-liked slasher is now scheduled for a March release. Yay!

--- Rob Zombie, the man who once stated he'd never do remakes because he's so much better than that and chock-full of fantastic original ideas himself, has apparently lined up (also via BD), as his follow-up to remaking Halloween, a remake of C.H.U.D., the 1984 movie about deformed sewer killers. At least this is more in his league. His league being the sewer, of course. Smiles, Mr. Zombie!

--- This is the first I've heard (via Sean) about Tori Amos' knife- and gun-play on stage during her current tour. She didn't do any of that when I saw her, dammit!

--- I spy Corey Haim in the Lost Boys sequel!

--- Salo's #3? Alternative Reel lists the 10 Most Disturbing Films Of All Time... how do I get my hands on a copy of Salo anyway? I've been wanting to see it for years now. Help me, internet!

Apparently Corey Feldman has made more progress in rehab than Corey Haim. Too bad. I have fond memories of CH in his BORN TO SHOP tee, and singing in a bubble bath.

"Salo" was released by Criterion, but is strangely hard to find. I rented it from Kim's Video, on St. Mark's Place.

It's really really an amazing film. The first time i saw it i was horrified and felt gross about myself and the world for a week. I saw it a couple years later and was shocked by how funny - and boring - it is. it's a brilliant parody of a European art film.

You are only going to see Salo on VHS. There were only a limited number released on DVD and when they become available, they sell upwards of $800.

I watched it back in college and was really grossed out by it. Even now I have trouble eating an unwrapped snickers bar.

Wiki says that it's available on DVD in UK, France, Finland, Greece, the Netherlands, NZ, Portugal, Spain, Denmark, Sweden and Italy.

It's banned here though, although it was unbanned in 1993 it was re-banned in 1998. Weird.

Seeing as you live in NYC, Lincoln Center is going to show Salo as part of a Pasolini retrospective on December 2nd and 3rd.

Don't eat before you see it.
