What is it about Brendan Fraser that I can't quite wrap my head around? He confounds me. I thought he was terrific in Gods and Monsters and The Quiet American, so he's proven to my eyes that he can act. And I often find him completely adorable, especially in the Mummy movies (I always get sucked into the first film whenever it's on TV; the less said about the sequel the better though) where his hair's all that's-the-way-I-dream-my-hair-could-look and he's wearing the Indiana Jones rip-off garb battling the real Captain TightPants for that title (see above).
But there's just something off about him. Is it the closet-case rumors that've dogged him since day 1? Is it the fact that he got his break via a Pauly Shore movie and still slips into unbearable goofiness on occassion? I like goofy; I normally find goofy completely endearing. So why can I not embrace this man?
Hmm. Well I wasn't planning on spending this much time ruminating on Brendan Fraser's star-worth, and now I feel dirty, like I ought to go read some Times' articles on Darfur or something. In the meantime...

Christ, where did those bottom two images come from? I'm also in the vaguely-detached/creeped camp on Fraser, but his body is definitely worth ogling.

He's attractive at times.....I dunno.
I don't know WHAT possessed anyone to come back for The Mummy 3! Thank god Rachel Weisz didn't go all Halle Berry on us and start foaming at the mouth the moment she heard she could star in a mediocre action picture.
