Quote of the Day

.

The adorable Alan Tudyk (yes, I'm going to use that picture every time his name comes up) spoke to Moviehole about the recent Special Edition DVD release of Serenity:

""They had to put [the new DVD] out because they’ve been selling out of the other one and so Universal’s like ‘So, let’s do another one’. And now… there’s now a chance there’s going to be another movie”.

Tudyk agrees that even if it was a direct-to-DVD movie, it’d still be worthwhile. Especially since the whole DVD sequel is a big trend.

“It really is”, says Tudyk. “Everybody in the Firefly crew – and that includes the ones who died in the movie – are excited about the prospect of doing another.”"

We Firefly fans really do have long memories and even longer hope-spans (a "hope-span" is like sorta a "heart-light", see), don't we? It'd be wonderful to have the crew back, in any form, but I'm... doubtful as to the actual prospects. Still, nice, thought, and somebody with money can prove me wrong.

Please
. Prove me wrong!

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!

But how would Wash even come back for a sequel, he was killed in the feature film--a fact which saddened me to no end.

Well I think that's why he included the "even those who died" caveat... not sure we can read into that that he'd actually be alive for the movie; just that he'd be happy to see the project happen. Knowing Joss, however, he could probably find a way to make room for Tudyk, and if the stars did align and a 2nd movie did happen, I'd hate for Tudyk to be left out of it. Maybe they could just have flashbacks. Lots of flashbacks. Naked, wrestling with the captain, who's also naked, flashbacks. I oughta be writing this thing!

I'd looove a Serenity sequel, but I don't have much optimism in there actually being one. Despite the DVD sales, I don't think the studios will want to invest in another movie. Besides, Joss is much too busy nowadays with all his comic projects.

Now what I do see happening: more Firefly comics.
