The Greatest Movie...

... in which a grandmother dressed in nothing
but tree-bark dances sexily with a fan
- silhouetted by multiple moons of course -
to distract stable guards from their horses?

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier

Nothing against the wonderful Nichelle Nichols, whom I adored as a child, but she was 57 years old when they filmed this scene and... and... it's just quite possibly one of the most ridiculous scenes ever committed to celluloid. Just dumbfounding. So of course I love it.

Yeah...that movie's just alot of bad ideas thrown together in a Shatner blender.

Is this the dance they joke about on that episode of Futurama? I just assumed that was a regular thing from the series. How awful.

I haven't seen that episode of Futurama... every time I try to watch Futurama the boyfriend makes me change the channel; he hates it, and I have no idea why. But it seems like something that Futurama would make fun of. It's beyond ripe for parody, and I'd be shocked if somebody out there hadn't made fun of it.

The episode has the main characters crash land on a planet where the original Star Trek cast were banished too once the Star Trek Religion took over the world and now an alien gas form makes them battle to the death. She's all "I can distract them with my mystical fan dance" or something like that. I've never seen an episode of Star Trek in my life but it seemed like something that they would do.
