The Greatest Movie...

... in which arm-wrestling
- and, to a lesser extent, truck driving -
teaches a father and son from opposite sides of the tracks
to love and respect each other?

Over the Top (1987)

I'm not gonna bullshit y'all - I haven't seen it in years, but I LOVED Over the Top when I was a kid, and the song "Meet Me Halfway" by Kenny Loggins still makes me tear up. I know, I know, I'm a total cheese-ball.

And as bonus awesomeness,
Stallone's character is named Lincoln Hawk.
Ha!

Believe it or not, I just watched this on Friday night as part of one our periodic Manly Movie Mamajamas, along with Death Race 2000 and Rocky IV. We called the evening "Stallone in the Dark."

Best part about Over the Top: His last name is referred to as "Hawk" and "Hawks" interchangeably, often in the same scene.

That's a fantastic idea, Sean; I gotta institute something like that at home. I've been hankering for some Cobra lately...

That's interesting; I loved this movie as a kid, too. Great memories. I haven't seen it in ages. I guess that makes me a total cheese ball as well.
