--- I Want Candy - JoBlo's got a lil' chat with Mike Dougherty on his boo-flick Trick'r'Treat which comes out October 5th. When asked if he wants to bring the fun back to horror, as the interviewer takes a tired swipe at "torture porn", Dougherty says:

"Well it's weird - I genuinely enjoy those movies, and I also enjoy the Japanese horror movies and their remakes. But to compare it to music, you can only hear the same kind of music on the air for so long before you want something completely different."
Exactly. The world's big enough for different kinds of horror, Mr. Interviewer. Just because your nuts have shriveled up into your body doesn't mean there's no fun in horror anymore. Yeesh.
--- Drac is Dandy - Alex Proyas, director of the very fine Dark City and the very-not-fine I, Robot, is taking on Dracula's "origin myth", which is Hollywood-speak for the story of Vlad the Impaler, I guess. What really caught my attention in the article on this at DH, though, is this:

"... Amongst other historical "Dracula" projects under consideration right now are a script by former "Queer as Folk" star Charlie Hunnam..."
Whassat? Charlie Hunnam wrote a Dracula script? This Charlie Hunnam? This boy is seriously gunning for my heart, isn't he?
--- And finally, BD has the first official pic from Doomsday, the next flick by Neil Marshall, he who directed The Descent and won my devotion, even if I'm having trouble putting the word "good" together with the words "Rhona Mitra". Speaking of:

I do have faith in Neil Marshall, I do have faith in Neil Marshall, I do have faith in Neil Marshall. I'm just repeating that to myself til we see more from this. But I really, really hate Rhona Mitra.
