I Am Coming For You, Harvey

I first heard this from Final Girl, who got to review the film earlier this week, and now Shock Til You Drop is reiterating the infuriating news:

"Whispers echoing throughout Hollywood indicated Jonathan Levine's outstanding slasher entry All the Boys Love Mandy Lane would not meet its July 20th release. Sadly, ShockTillYouDrop.com confirmed today Dimension Films inexplicably removed the film from its summer slot, now calling into question its eventual distribution, theatrical or otherwise. Currently there is no future release date set."

Cinematical has a little more on it here.

Why do the Weinsteins even buy these horror movies? They go round to these festivals, they snatch these movies up, and then they shit on them every single step of the way. Fuck you, Harvey Weinstein. Why don't you let somebody else get these things; someone that might, I don't know, actually release them? Might actually respect the filmmakers and the fans? To all the horror filmmakers out there, shopping your product around - NEVER sell your movie to Harvey Weinstein. NEVER. Asshole. I hate that Rogue is sitting on this guy's plate right now and shit knows if we'll ever get to see the thing.

How about we create the Legion for a Better Tomorrow and destroy him... you know we'll get at least 3 million memberships in the first 3 hours...

yeah it's the weirdest.

i'm not sure what filmmakers are thinking. anybody with a passing knowledge of the movie industry knows that asian films and horror films are not safe in their hands and yet they still get the deals.

i sometimes think they must have very mysterious accounting practices and somehow be making money off of NOT releasing films

I'd buy that. But I just remembered an occasion when they held something dangerously and criminally back and it actually made impressive bank: Hero. Even Satan needs a mark in the 'Y' column...

You're not alone in your frustration. I keep hearing about how the Weinstein Co. keeps changing the release and the title of that Mischa Barton/Hayden Christensen film, which is apparently now called "Virgin Territory", after going through the titles "Angels and Virgins" and "The Decameron" and Lord knows what else. And they had another new release date set and just a few days ago they changed it back to TBA. No one is ever going to see this movie. At least Mandy Lane hasn't been in "editing" hell for over a year, as far as I know.
