Quote of the Day

.

Ooh, I smell a cat fight! This is Sophia Loren commenting on Quentin Tarantino's claim that Italian cinema is dead, from The Australian via DH:

"It's not true, it's not true at all. There's so many things going on in Italian cinema, so beautiful, also new actors, new actresses... How dare he, how dare he talk about Italian cinema when he doesn't know anything about American cinema."

Anybody have a link to where Tarantino said this? I couldn't find one. Anyway, I wouldn't want to cross Sophia Loren. She'll scratch your eyes out with those witch-claws of hers.

I read that the other day and was delightfully amused.

Yeah, I love QT, but he does need to be smacked down a peg or two sometimes. He really does seem to believe in his own godlike prowess occasionally, as if he can decree an entire country's films worthless.

I don't remember how or why I was told this, but when I was a child my grandmother told me that Sophia Loren was a witch - like, a real, practising agent of the devil - and I grew up believing it.

This same grandmother told me that Scooby Doo was an evil show, mind you.

That explains so much :)

Sophia Loren is a clueless has-been. Any American who loves cinema knows that Tarantino knows American cinema only second to Roger Ebert.
