For some reason, for a good long while I hadn't been able to muster much enthusiasm about
28 Weeks Later, the sequel to Danny Boyle's terrific
2003 film. I suppose it was the auteurist in me turned off by the fact that Boyle was
not directing this time around, and that the man he handed the reins to,
Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, was unfamiliar to me. But slowly, over the past couple of weeks, I've felt stirrings inside me that hey, maybe I'm being unfairly dismissive. And then I skim some reviews today and, well, I'm sold, bring on the infecteds (that's what these not-quite-zombies go by here). From
NYT:
"28 Weeks Later is not for the faint of heart or the weak of stomach. It is brutal and almost exhaustingly terrifying, as any respectable zombie movie should be. It is also bracingly smart, both in its ideas and in its techniques."
Anybody else gonna check it out?
ETA And here's a good interview with the director, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, at
MTV's Movie Blog.

Good, bad, ugly or absurd, if it's a zombie movie I will be there.
That's dedication.
Yeah, I also enjoy good (and even bad) zombie movies. I'm definitely going to watch it.
Sometimes I do regret it (my dedication, that is). Zombies Gone Wild and Zombie Honeymoon leap to mind.
Just got back from the movie, it is cool as hell! see it for the
bloodletting fun!
Just got back! F-ing great flick!
